Ranveer Singh calls Rohit Shetty ‘Bossman’ as ‘Simmba’ clocks 2 yrs; thanks him for ‘first hardcore commercial cinema’!

As Rohit Shetty’s directorial actioner ‘Simmba’ has turned two on Monday, the movie’s lead actor Ranveer Singh penned a gratitude note for the ace filmmaker.

The movie stars Ranveer and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles and it was the third installment of Shetty’s Cop Universe film franchise. The film follows Sangram “Simmba” Bhalerao, a corrupt police officer hailing from the same town as Singham, who is forced to lead a more righteous path after tragedy strikes those near him. The film is an official remake of the 2015 Telugu film ‘Temper’.

The ‘Bajirao Mastani’ fame star took to his Instagram handle, and shared a video from the movie, and expressed his gratitude to Rohit Shetty. Ranveer thanked Rohit for giving him an everlasting and cherished film that he is proud of. He also said it was his first hardcore commercial cinema. 

“AAYA POLICE!!! Two years of my first foray into hardcore commercial cinema with the Undisputed KING of the Box-office, one & only BOSSMAN @itsrohitshetty. Ek hi toh hai ! Thank you Boss for embracing me into your Team, teaching me the ropes, and giving me an everlasting and cherished film that I am most proud of,” Ranveer said in his Instagram post. 

Ranveer’s post garnered more than five lakh views, and his fans are dropping heart and fire emoticons in the comment section. Varun Sharma wrote, “Dadaaaaaaaaa”, while Nikitin Dheer said, “Kadak”.

‘Simmba’ is a 2018 film written by Yunus Sajawal and Sajid-Farhad. The film was produced by Shetty under his banner Rohit Shetty Picturez and Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta via Dharma Productions. Reliance Entertainment also co-produced and distributed the film. The movie also stars Sonu Sood and Ajay Devgn, reprising his role of Bajirao Singham in a cameo role. 

On the professional front, Ranveer will next reprise his role as Simmba in Shetty’s action film ‘Sooryavanshi’. He will also be seen portraying the cricketer Kapil Dev in 83, a sports film based on the 1983 Cricket World Cup, and the Mughal prince Dara Shikoh in Karan Johar’s historical drama ‘Takht’, which features an ensemble cast including Kareena Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. He has also committed to team with Yash Raj Films once again for the comedy ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’.
