‘Sonchiriya’ turns 2: Bhumi Pednekar misses Sushant Singh Rajput; says his ‘brilliance will be remembered for generations’

Young Bollywood star Bhumi Pednekar is one of the most sought after actresses today due to her brilliant acting skills. 

In a very short span of time she has treated audiences to some brilliant work in films like ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, ‘Sonchiriya’, ‘Lust Stories’, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, ‘Saand Ki Aankh’, ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’, among others. Bhumi is one of the most hardworking and loved actresses in the industry and there are no second thoughts about it. The actress has proved her mettle time and again and is known for her impeccable acting prowess.

Now on Monday, Bhumi marked the two years of her western action drama ‘Sonchiriya’. The movie starred late actor Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role. Co-written and directed by Abhishek Chaubey, the film presented a rooted tale set in Chambal. The movie received positive reviews from the critics.

Taking to her Instagram story, Bhumi shared some throwback behind-the-scenes (BTS) photographs and videos from the sets of the movie. Sharing photos along with Sushant, other co-stars and the team, Bhumi wrote, “My Sonchiriya journey… A film that changed me as a person, it gave me courage and strength. It made me brave and selfless… Through these pictures you”ll know why.. #2yearsofsonchiriya”. 

Bhumi captioned the photo with Sushant as, “We miss you SSR.. #Lakhna”. Sushant essayed the role of Lakhan “Lakhna” Singh, while Bhumi was seen as Indumati Tomar. 

The gorgeous actress at the end of her posts, said, “Want to end by saying…That we miss Sushant. I remember after the screening we both just couldn’t stop crying… we were so overwhelmed and grateful to be a part of this film and what it gave us. A family and experiences for many lifetimes… This one was one of our toughest yet most most rewarding. Your brilliance as Lakhna will be remembered for generations my friend.”

The story of the film was set in ravines of river Chambal valley. It tells the tale of dacoits in 1975, who termed themselves Baaghis, the rebels. The flick also starred Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana in the pivotal roles.

On the work front, Bhumi will be next seen opposite Rajkummar Rao in ‘Badhaai Do’. The movie is directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni and written by Akshat Ghildial and Suman Adhikary. The promising entertainer will see Rajkummar essaying the role of a tough cop at a Mahila Police Thana, while Bhumi Pednekar will play the role of a PT teacher.
